Intent

The intent of our Science offer is to provide an engaging curriculum that advances our pupils’ understanding, challenges their misconceptions and embeds a secure knowledge of the scientific concepts.  Through using a wide range of investigative techniques relating to the real-world, our children deepen their awareness of the different disciplines. This programme of learning has been developed to support the children’s understanding of the need for accountability regarding the impact of global issues so that they are aware of the demands of the future and are prepared to make positive change on global issues.

Implementation

During their time at Millbrook primary School, our pupils are empowered to forge their own learning path by using a range of Scientific activities and leading their own enquiry-based investigations that relate to the scientific concepts.  We endeavour to provide inclusive lessons that allow every child to enjoy the subject and thrive in a respectful environment that makes them feel valued. Using current, local, national, and global issues, we seek to engage pupils in the full range of scientific concepts.  This ensures that more demanding concepts are relevant and accessible to all learners.

Our successful, engaging and high-quality science education provides children with the foundations for understanding the world that they can take with them once they complete their primary education.
