PSHE
Intent
At Millbrook Primary School we believe that personal, health and social education (PSHE) allows our children to become independent, resilient and responsible members of society. PSHE is at the heart of our school ethos. The focus of PSHE is to equip pupils with the knowledge and skills to be happy, healthy, and safe, as well as prepared for life and work.
Implementation
At Millbrook, we follow Jigsaw. Through a spiral, progressive and fully planned scheme of work, we give pupils the relevant learning experiences to help them navigate their world and to develop positive relationships with themselves, the community and others.
This curriculum provides a context for the school to fulfil our responsibilities to:
• Promote the physical, social and emotional well-being of pupils.
• Provide sex and relationships education (RSE).
• Promote British values.
• Provide a safe place for discussion of current, relevant social issues.
• Protect our children from radicalisation.
From Nursery to Year 6, the Jigsaw scheme is followed. In addition to Jigsaw, in EYFS, our daily provision is planned to ensure development in Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED). During provision and play, adults model, scaffold and support children to explore relationships, feelings and appropriate behaviours, self-confidence and self-awareness, rules, routines, and empathy.
