Music
Intent
The intent of our Music curriculum is to provide a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. Through our delivery, children will be engaged and inspired to develop a love of music; this will develop their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. Our Music offer has been developed to ensure children will be able to compose and listen to musical pieces and develop a sound understanding of musical theory.
Implementation
During their time at Millbrook Primary School, our children will be exposed to a high-quality music education which will include weekly music/singing assemblies that are tailored to key stage expectations. We seek out opportunities for all pupils to flourish in music lessons that are inclusive and ensure every child feels valued and respected. Children will be given the opportunity to learn an instrument capably by the time they leave school whilst also being exposed to a variety of instruments. This will include working with other pupils to develop a confidence and love of music through a diverse curriculum. Through this, children will be exposed to a multitude of genres in which to explore cultural traditions and gain an understanding of music’s place in the world.
