Part one: Safeguarding information
A child centred and coordinated approach to safeguarding
8. All those who are part of our school, including our staff are an important part of the wider safeguarding system for our pupils.
9. It is everyone’s responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children; this includes everyone who comes into contact with children and their families. Everyone will consider, at all times, what is in the best interest for the child and ensure their practice is child-centred.
10. No one will manage concerns about a child in insolation. Everyone will identify concerns, share information and take prompt action to help children and families receive the right help at the right time.
11. For the purpose of this policy, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined as:
- protecting children from maltreatment;
- preventing impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development;
- ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and
- taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.
12. Children includes everyone under the age of 18.
