Pupil & Sports Premium Strategies
Pupil premium is paid to schools by the government in order to close the gap in attainment between disadvantaged pupils and other pupils. This year the government announced £1 billion additional funding to support children and young people to catch up on missed learning caused by coronavirus (COVID19). This is especially important for the most vulnerable pupils and pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds who we know have been most affected.

Ofsted's report in May 2014 recognises the support Millbrook makes to closing the gap, stating that:
The proportion of pupils supported by the pupil premium, which is extra government funding for particular groups, including pupils known to be eligible for free school meals, and looked after children is well above the national average.
Pupils who benefit from pupil premium support have accelerated their progress because of extra adult help. As a result, previous gaps in attainment between these pupils and other pupils at the end of Year 6 in 2013, of nearly six months in reading and writing and mathematics, have all been closed. Pupils supported by the pupil premium now achieve as well as other pupils and are making good progress.
Swimming
The % of children in Year 6 who were able to meet the National Curriculum requirements for swimming at the end of the academic year 2022/2023, are as follows:
Swim competently, confidently, and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres | 22% |
Use a range of strokes effectively (for example front crawl, backstroke, and breaststroke) | 55% |
Perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations | 100% |
