Our Governors
Our Local Governing Body is chaired by Mr John Bowdler and is made up of eight dedicated representatives from across our community, including parents, school staff, and members appointed for their skills and experience.
We currently have a vacancy for a Parent Governor, and we warmly welcome expressions of interest from parents who would like to play an active role in supporting the strategic leadership of Millbrook Primary School. If you would like more information about the role or how to apply, please contact the school office.
The Local Governing Body works closely with the Headteacher to ensure our school continues to build on its strengths and achieve its strategic objectives. Members of the Local Governing Body help shape the future of the school by:
- Setting the overall vision, values, and strategic direction of the school
- Overseeing the school budget and ensuring financial accountability
- Supporting the recruitment of staff, where appropriate
- Monitoring school performance, including pupil outcomes and progress
- Holding senior leaders to account for school improvement
- Reviewing and advising on key school policies and procedures
Our governors bring valuable skills, insights, and perspectives, helping ensure that every decision supports the best possible outcomes for our children.
The Local Governing Body meets half-termly to review progress, evaluate impact, and oversee the strategic direction of the school. These meetings provide the opportunity to:
- Review school improvement priorities
- Approve policies and statutory documents
- Monitor safeguarding, curriculum provision, inclusion, and financial performance
To promote transparency and accountability, minutes of Local Governing Body meetings are available upon request from the school office.
